True feminists feel the pain of our counterparts, too.
I am a feminist. I support women. Not over or more than men. Just the same. I want us to rise up. I want men to want this too. But more than the support I hold us to the same accountability. Because you can't cry discrimination And refuse to feel the pain of anyone else. Because that isn't standing for something, That is only standing for yourself. But I want the world to win.
I am a feminist.
But can being a feminist also mean Standing in solidarity With men Who are taught not to feel But want to?
Because I am The kind of women who opens men.
And I can't count the number of stories that have passed off the lips Of heartbroken men Who were never allowed to feel vulnerable. The number of stories that have passed through my ears To fall on my heart Breaking back over for them And the way they were taught to be Too strong.
The way the strength eats at their love Hardness on hearts of men who want to feel like little boys again Who sometimes Also Need to be coddled the way broken women And children do.
Because gender identity Shouldn't equate gender role
And men should be soft as they need.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
